HAMPTON — Atlanta Motor Speedway is in the holiday spirit this year with more than two million Christmas lights decorating the stands and infield of the track.
Visitors also have a chance to drive along a portion of the racing track.
A Christmas village is set up at the AMS gift shop on Fridays and Saturdays where visitors can purchase hot cocoa and cider as well as have their pictures taken with Santa.
Hours for the Gift of Lights are 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday for $15 per car and 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday for $20 per car.
There are also several events planned at the track including a car display that will feature local Legends, late model and drag race cars on display.

Dec. 6: Great Clips Christmas Ornament Giveaway Night
Free Christmas ornament to the first 500 cars to enter. One ornament per car.
Dec. 9-12: Winter Coat Drive
Save $3 off admission with the donation of a new or gently used blanket or coat.
Dec. 14: Santa Chase Footrace
The Atlanta Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities is hosting this race and encourages participants to dress as their favorite holiday character as they run or walk through the Gift of Lights route. The run begins at 4:30 p.m. and is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. To register, visit www.atlanta.speedwaycharities.org or call 770-946-3980.
