MORROW — The Morrow City Council has begun its search to replace former City Manager Jeff Eady.

The council approved a new job description for the position with a slight change in educational requirements Tuesday. The previous job description that was set two years ago required a master’s degree, but the new minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree.

However, despite the change in the education requirement, the council added a statement in the job description that says a master’s degree is still preferred.

The job description was posted on Morrow’s website Wednesday. It remains to be seen whether the council will pick someone with a bachelor’s degree or someone with a master’s degree. Half of the council’s membership is set to change Jan. 1.

In a related decision, the council extended police Chief Chris Leighty’s tenure as interim city manager until a permanent manager is hired. The council had previously appointed Leighty to serve as the interim manager until Dec. 31, with the intention being to let the new council decide what to do about the position in January.

Eady stepped down last month to become the public works director in Forest Park.
