Singleton highlighting Longhorn’s support of Kinship Care Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program Saturday

MORROW — Clayton County Commissioner Sonna Singleton has announced she will hold a special community forum Saturday to support grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.

Singleton’s office said she will hold her monthly Second Saturdays with Commissioner Singleton event at Longhorn Steakhouse, 2256 Mt. Zion Parkway, in Morrow today at 9 a.m. She is holding the forum at the restaurant to highlight work it is doing this month to support Kinship Care’s Grandparents Raising program.

Longhorn is donating all proceeds it makes from selling breakfasts between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. every Saturday this month to the program, said Singleton’s office. The $5 breakfast consisted of grits, scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon or sausage and coffee or soda. The restaurant is accepting cash only for the breakfasts.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is a support program organized by Kinship Care to help grandparents who are, as the program’s name suggests, the primary caretakers for their grandchildren.
