JONESBORO — Today is the last day Clayton County Commission Chairman Jeff Turner will gather Christmas gifts for abused and neglected children for this year.
The deadline for residents to contribute to Turner’s Ambassadors Behind CASA toy drive has arrived. The chairman has already gathered hundreds of toys for the children, but he has said he will accept additional toys through today.
At 2 p.m., Turner will officially turn the toys over to Ambassadors Behind CASA officials.
The toys will be distributed to children in the care of the Clayton County Court-Appointed Special Advocates program. CASA officials said last week that they hope to receive enough toys to fill the wish lists of 200 children this year. Turner is also collecting financial donations which will be turned over to CASA officials to buy additional toys.
Anyone who cannot bring a donation before Turner makes his presentation can call his office at 770-472-8122 to arrange a way to get bring in their gift. They can also call Ambassadors Behind CASA officials at 770-477-3254.
