Lil Ms. JA’ Mesiyah L. Smith

Lil Ms. JA’ Mesiyah L. Smith 7, of 1424 Lincoln Rd in Griffin went on to play with the angels in heaven on Wednesday, December 18th. Ja’Mesiyah L. Smith was born in Griffin, GA on July 11, 2006 to James Smith, III and Shuntavious Harps-Bryant. Ja’Mesiyah attended Futral Road Elementary School. In 2012 at the age of 6, she gave her life to Christ, under the leadership of Pastor R.L. Griffin at New Covenant Pure Holiness Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and she loved the Lord. She was an A student who carried a big smile and touched hearts of everyone she meets. Little Miss MeMe leaves to cherish her loving parents, mother Shuntavious Harps-Bryant and father James Smith, III; (3) sisters: Aziyah V. Harps, Zarriyah J. Smith and Jakayla Bryant; (2) brothers; Nehemiah Bryant and Jaylan Bryant all of Griffin. Grandparents; Donald (Victoria) Harps, Bernice S. Harps and Mary (Tim) Peagler, Great Grandparents, Dorothy Harps and the late Bishop Bobby (Anita) Harps; other relatives include a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation for Ja’Mesiyah will be Saturday, December 22nd from 3pm - 7pm at Burden’s Funeral Home in Griffin. Home Going celebration will be Monday, December 23rd at 1:00pm at Moriah Baptist Church in Griffin. Pastor R. L. Griffin will render the eulogy. Interment to follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Burden’s Funeral Home of Griffin 222 S 14th Street is in charge of professional arranagements.

Mr. Cecil E. Mullins

Mr. Cecil E. Mullins, age 77, of Jonesboro, passed away, December 14, 2013. Mr. Mullins retired from the United States Air Force. He was one of the founders of the Chapel at the American Legion Post 258. The Chapel is called “For God And Country.” He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Mullins; children, Teresa (Dennis) Baxter of VA, Tammy Mullins of TN, Karen (Clayton) Ford of TN; stepchild, Debra Ann Gunia of MI; siblings, Greg Mullins of VA, Etta (Don) Nicewonder of VA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held, 10 AM, Sunday, December 22, 2013, at the American Legion Post 258, 1483 American Legion Way, Jonesboro, GA 30236. Mr. Bobby Joe Erkhart

Mr. Bobby Joe Erkhart, age 74, of Atlanta, passed away, December 16, 2013. He is survived by his children, Cindy (Richard) Erkhart-Baker of Western Springs, IL, Celeste Erkhart of Jonesboro; brother, Ronnie (Donna) Flowers of Albany; grandson, Taylor Elwood, and nephew, Justin Flowers of CA.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, December 21, 2013, in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. Dr. Mel Blackaby and Rev. Hinton Harris will officiate. Interment will be at 3:30 PM Saturday at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery in Baxley, GA. The family received friends on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
