Ruth M. Jones 83 of Rex passed away December 23, 2013.Ruth was a member of the Eastern Star, Anvil Block United Methodist Church and The Samaritans in Forrest Park Ga. Ruth was predeceased by her husband James W. Jones. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons James Romanelli & wife Linda and Leonard Jones. One granddaughter April Romanelli. One sister Erma Cavigliano & Pat Two brothers Raymond and Leo Reak. Funeral services will be held Friday December 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the Fairview Chapel of Horis A. Ward. Rev. Laura M. Watkins (nee Livingston)
Laura M. Watkins (nee Livingston), 83 of Morrow, Georgia passed away on December 23, 2013 at Laurel Park Nursing Home in Stockbridge, Georgia. Mrs. Watkins was born on November 13, 1930 in Salisbury, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Lina Livingston Bruff (nee Brown) and Guy Anthony Livingston of Salisbury, Maryland; and she was the stepdaughter of the late Charles Bruff, Sr. of Baltimore, Maryland. Her husband Bert Watkins originally from Uniontown, Kentucky, served in the Army. They traveled all over the world and lived overseas in Rome, Italy; Seoul, Korea; and Frankfurt, Germany during his 30 year career until finally settling in Morrow, Georgia. Prior to marrying Bert, Laura was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Co, and later in her life served as volunteer poll worker. She was a copious letter writer, an avid competitive card player, and she loved to read books, particularly biographies, and loved the ocean and beach. Laura Watkins is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bert Watkins; her children, Darlene Silver (nee Stinebaugh) of Laurel, MD; William Stinebaugh, Jr. and wife, Marilyn of Fogelsville, PA; Robert Watkins of Ellenwood, GA; and Diana Mills (nee Watkins) of Alpharetta, GA; her brother, Charles Bruff, Jr. and wife Maureen of Baltimore, MD; her late sister Diana Bruff; her grandsons, Trevor and Justin Mills; her nephew, Charles Bruff; and her nieces, Tammy Kinberg and Kim Hemling.
The viewing is scheduled for Friday December 27th from 5 to 8 pm at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors, Morrow, Ga. A service will be held at First Baptist Church of Morrow on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev Thomas Quisenberry and Pastor David Tew to officiate. She will lie in state at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Morrow Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Watkins is requesting that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Morrow.
