Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Cliff Harris Walton Jr. of Swainsboro, on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be Sunday, Feb. 10, at 3 p.m. in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Keith Claxton officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Mr. Walton was a native of Dooly County, was a loving husband, father and grandfather. After graduating from Swainsboro High School in 1952, he attend and graduated from Georgia Southern University and later completed his graduate studies at Auburn University. He was voted Clayton County's Man of the Year, was a teacher, principal and retired as Director of Personal with the Clayton County Board of Education. Mr. Walton was a member of the Summertown Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff Harris Walton Sr. and Eunice Bragg Walton.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sally Walton of Swainsboro, two daughters, Anne Walton-Rowe (Michael) of Stockbridge, and Jan Bradley (Skip) of Houston, Texas; one son, Tray Walton (Sissy) of Jonesboro; one brother, Carlton Walton (Brenda) of Vidalia; seven grandchildren, Clay Walton, Nathan Bowe, Rebekah Bradley, Genoa Bowe, Rachael Bradley, Leah Bowe and Janna Bowe.
