JONESBORO Clayton County Parks and Recreation Director Detrick Stanford will have some hat juggling to do.
He will keep wearing his hat as the head of the recreation department. But, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners gave Stanford a new hat this week when they named him the county legislative coordinator.
In addition to running the county’s parks, he will have to make sure his fellow department heads receive legislative reports, proposals and analysis written by the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia.
Through his new position, Stanford will be granted access to all department heads and commissioners. He will also have the authority to “request and receive timely responses to requests for information” from officials.
The appointment comes weeks after commissioners narrowly approved a five-percent pay raise for Stanford. Officials argued the raise was justified because Stanford was taking on extra work.
