JONESBORO — Jonesboro senior Victoria Florence and Forest Park junior Kayla Potts were named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association all-star games, which will take place next month in Savannah.
Florence, the Lady Cardinals starting point guard, will play for the South squad in the annual GACA All-Star Basketball Showcase at Armstrong State University on March 23.
Potts will play in the Junior game for the South squad.
Both players led their teams to their respective regular season subregion title.
Florence, a two-year starter, is averaging 11.2 points per game, 3.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. Last season, she helped lead the Lady Cardinals to the Class AAAA semifinals.
Potts missed all of last season after recovering from major knee surgery. She returned to the Lady Panthers lineup on Jan. 8 and has helped provide immediate scoring. The 5-foot-9 guard is averaging 12.8 points, 4.5 steals and 3.3 rebounds.
During the 2010-11 season, Potts helped the Lady Panthers reach the Class AAAA title game.
Last week, Potts was named to the All-Region 4-AAAAA team, despite playing only 10 games this season.
Florence was named second-team all-Region 4-AAAA by the league coaches.
