Photo by Jerry Jackson Seniors Cameron Sutton of Jonesboro and Isaiah Dennis of Eagle’s Landing were named to the All-Region 4-AAAA team. Sutton made the second team and Dennis was named to the first team by the region coaches.
Eric Wortham of Eagle’s Landing and Domonique Clune of Dutchtown were named the top players in Region 4-AAAA by the coaches.

In addition the all-region team was released on Monday, which was dominated by players in the Southern Crescent.
The girl’s first team features DeAna Turner of Riverdale, Briana Benson and Kimberly Dawkins of Jonesboro and Woodland teammate Morgan Jones and Lindsey Reed.
On the boy’s side, Quincy January of Riverdale is joined on the first team by Isaiah Dennis of Eagle’s Landing and Jonesboro teammates Patrick Petty and Duby Okeke. Dutchtown’s Donovahn Jones, who recently signed a football scholarship to Minnesota, rounds out the first team.
It is the second straight season that Wortham has been named a region player of the year. Last season, he grabbed top honors in Region 4-AAA and was also named all-state by the Association Press.
Last November, Wortham signed a basketball scholarship with Middle Tennessee State, which will plays in the Sun Belt Conference, but has accepted an invitation to move to Conference USA.
Wortham’s coach, Clay Crump, was named the region’s coach of the year by his peers. On the girl’s side, Ashley Maddox of Woodland was named the top coach.
The region tournament is currently being played at Woodland with the top four teams advancing to next week’s state tournament. Teams that finish as champion and runner-up get to host first-round playoff games.
During the football season, Jones was named to the all-region football team. He signed with the Golden Gophers to play quarterback after changing his longstanding commitment to Missouri a day before National Signing Day on Feb. 6.
