JONESBORO Clayton County residents have an opportunity to see state lawmakers doing what they do next week.
The Clayton County Chamber of Commerce will partner with local legislators to host the second annual Clayton County Chamber Day at the State Capitol on Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The free-to-attend event is organized primarily for chamber members, but the group’s president, Yulonda Beauford, said members of the general public are also invited to attend.
“It’s an opportunity to see the state legislature in action,” said Beauford. “They will get to see committees meeting. They’ll get a legislative briefing from members of our delegation.
“There will also be a Georgia economic development presentation from a representative of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and we’ll also hear from a representative of the agriculture department, which oversees the State Farmers Market in Forest Park.”
Beauford said the chamber is asking that anyone who wants to participate in the event register in advance because the business group needs a head count of how many people will attend a luncheon with the Clayton County Legislative Delegation. During the luncheon, attendees will be able to ask questions of delegation members.
The chamber will be able to offer a limited amount of transportation from Clayton County to the capitol.
Call the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce at 678-610-4021 to register for the event.
