Clayton State hosts women’s education conference

MORROW — Clayton State University is hosting the Georgia Association of Women in Higher Education Annual Conference this week.

The conference, “Developing the Courage to Lead,” continues from 8 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. today in room 101 of the Harry S. Downs Center, 2000 Clayton State Blvd.

The conference registration fee is $75, with the optional annual membership fee of $30. Register at www.gawhe.org.


Clayton State’s College of Information and Mathematical Sciences will host the MathCounts state regional competition Saturday.

The event is coordinated by the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers and Dr. Catherine Matos, associate professor of mathematics at Clayton State. Matos expects to have about 100 middle schoolers and their team coaches and parents.

Penny Brooks also will speak to students Saturday on how their dreams can be made real. Brooks is the associate director of recruitment and marketing in the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. Registration is at 8 a.m. in the university center.


Clayton State’s Department of Recreation & Wellness will celebrate National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day. Tuesday’s recognition will include events, information and cash prizes for the top three places in the fitness contests for students and employees.

All events will take place in the student activities center fitness center from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. A full schedule of the fitness events is available through www.clayton.edu.
