STATESBORO – Jonesboro’s basketball season ended in southeast Georgia as the Cardinals suffered a 76-69 loss at the hands of Statesboro in Saturday’s second round Class AAAA playoff game at Statesboro High.
The Cardinals (23-6) were led by Deantre Mack, Casey Wells and Cam Sutton who all had 11 points a piece in the losing effort. Statesboro (24-3) won its 15th straight game and will advance to play Rutland – a 64-58 winner over Monroe – in the quarterfinal round.
Jonesboro was denied its third straight trip to the quarterfinals. The Cardinals had made to consecutive semifinals appearances prior to this season.
