ATLANTA For the second day in a row, state representatives put off a vote on legislation to give the state’s university system control of the Morrow-based Georgia Archives on Wednesday.
The House of Representatives was scheduled to vote on a bill to formally transfer the archives from the Secretary of State’s Office to the University System of Georgia. A vote was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but it got postponed to Wednesday.
However, the House’s composite legislation status report shows that when it came time for the vote to happen, the House postponed it again. Representatives are now supposed to decide the bill’s fate Thursday.
If approved, it would then go to the Senate for consideration.
The legislation is largely a formality because all of the involved parties, including Gov. Nathan Deal, agreed to the transfer last October.
