Mr. J.B. Hunter of Jonesboro passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, after an extended illness. He had lived in Jonesboro for more than 50 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. His wife, Evelyn Hunter, preceded him in death after being married for more than 40 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Jean Smith of Indiana; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and one sister, Loretta Epperson of Corinth, Ky., and a special friend, Jeannette Hicks of Jonesboro. His nephew, Sammie Hunter and Sammie’s wife, Ethel, and Jeannette Hicks took pride in belng his caregivers for several months before Mr. Hunter passed away.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, and his funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, in the Chapel of Tara Garden Chapel, 681 North Avenue, Jonesboro, Ga. 30236. Burial will follow at the College Park Cemetery with military honors.
