JONESBORO Clayton County Police are continuing their search for the driver who hit an 8-year-old girl in Conley and drove off.
The hit-and-run incident happened Wednesday around 7 p.m., at the intersection of Rock Cut Road and Glen Place, according to Clayton County Police spokesperson Chandi Ashmore.
Police said the girl was crossing the street when she was hit.
“The car hit her in the roadway and did not stop,” Ashmore said. “She received lacerations to her head and arms.”
Ashmore said the young girl also received other injuries, but could not release more details, citing patient privacy regulations.
A witness reported a black female, driving a gray or black Pontiac sedan, hit the child and leave the scene, she added.
Police are asking anyone with information about the location or identification of the hit-and-run driver to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 (404-577-TIPS).
