Michelle Smith scored 16 points to lead two other Jonesboro players in double figure scoring as Jonesboro defeated visiting Griffin 53-48 in a Region 4-AAAA, Div. B contest on Friday.
Kimberly Dawkins had 13 points and Raven Wynn added 10 for the Lady Cardinals. Jonesboro impoved to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the subregion.
Shacoria Jones had a game-high 21 points for the Lady Bears, who dropped to 7-8 and 3-4.
In the boys game, Daniel Peace scored 13 points to pace the Cardinals.
Teammate Patrick Petty added nine points as the ninth-ranked Cardinals improved to 10-4 overall and 5-0 in the subregion.
Riverdale girls 52, Spalding 50: Erica Burnham hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer to lift the Lady Raiders.
Toni Thomas had 11 points as Riverdale improved to 8-8 overall and 5-1 in Region 4-AAAA, Div. B.
North Clayton boys 55, Upson-Lee 50: Stafan Bradley lead all scorers with 24 points in the Region 4-AAAA, Div. B victory. The Eagles improved to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in subregion.
North Clayton is off until Friday when they travel to Jonesboro.
Wenonah girls 49, Mundy’s Mill 35: Moneshia Dyer had 16 points despite the non-region loss to the Birmingham, Ala., school, in the first round of the Peach State Classic at Westlake High.
Mundy’s Mill, which dropped to 7-5, will take on Chamblee on Saturday.
Eagle's Landing boys 80, Locust Grove 38: Isaiah Dennis scored 20 points to lead the No. 3 Golden Eagles to the victory.
Dutchtown boys 65, Stockbridge 63: Aundre Reid scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Charles Stokes stole an in-bounds pass and hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer.
