COLLEGE PARK A $230 million mixed-use development that includes hotel and office space has brought College Park some recognition from a pair of development-minded organizations.
The city recently announced it has been recognized by the Urban Land Institute and the Atlanta Regional Commission for its Gateway Center project. The development is a public-private project located next to the Georgia International Convention Center, according to a project description from College Park officials.
The development earned the ULI’s Development of Excellence for the city, as well as the ARC’s 2012 Developments of Excellence Award for Exceptional Merit for Public-Private Partnership.
Gateway Center includes a Marriott Headquarters Hotel, a Spring Hill Suites hotel and a “class A” office building, according to the description. The Georgia International Convention Center and the Gateway Center development are located near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
“The Gateway Center project is, in my opinion, the cornerstone of South Fulton and North Clayton counties,” said College Park Mayor Jack Longino in a written statement.
