Hugh Alvin Hancock, 72, of Jonesboro, passed away Jan. 10, 2013. He was born in Meriweather County and worked with Blalock Oil.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Hancock; sister, Judy Tolley; brothers, Jim Hancock, Tom Hancock and Warren Hancock, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hancock; daughter, Lisa (Kenny) Garland, of Jackson; son Alvin (Pam) Hancock, of Griffin; son, Scott Hancock, of Jonesboro; grandchildren (four); great-grandchildren (two); sisters, Sue (Barney) Walker, of Fayetteville, Marie Smith, of Rex, Cecile Thomas, of Fayetteville, and Barbara (Rodney) Owen, of Fayetteville; brothers Frank (Cordie) Hancock, of Griffin, and Bill Hancock, of Jonesboro.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. The Rev. Gary Lewis will officiate. The burial will follow at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
