Donald (Donnie) Lee James, 69, passed away on Jan. 10, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and son and daughter-in-law Kristopher and Emily of Alamogordo, N.M. Kristopher is serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Afghanistan. He is also survived by his sister, Sherial Foust, of Anderson, S.C.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Erline and Larry Gunter, of McDonough, Ga.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Donnie served in the U.S. Marine Corp and did two tours in Vietnam. Upon leaving the Marines, he joined the Atlanta Police Department and later the South Fulton County Police Department retiring as a lieutenant in 2002 with 36 years of service. He was a wonderful husband and a very loving father. Memorial service Sunday, Jan. 20, at 3 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. at Tara Garden Chapel, 681 North Ave., Jonesboro, Ga., 770-471-7171.
