MORROW State officials gave Clayton State University the green light Monday to hold its upcoming homecoming parade on Jonesboro Road.
Morrow police Chief Chris Leighty said he received the Georgia Department of Transportation’s blessing to close the northbound lanes on the state highway, also known as Ga. Hwy. 54, Feb. 9 for the parade.
Leighty worked with Clayton State officials to plan possible parade routes, but they had to wait for the DOT’s approval to use Jonesboro Road because it was their first choice.
Leighty is expecting to close the northbound lanes, between Morrow Road and Clayton State Boulevard from approximately 10:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. However, he added the roadway could re-open to traffic sooner depending on when the parade ends.
