JONESBORO — Mt. Zion High School was put on a "soft lockdown" for more than an hour Thursday afternoon after a bomb threat was reportedly called into the school, Clayton County Public Schools spokesman David Waller said.
The lock down went into effect at 12:40 p.m., and ended at 1:58 p.m.
Waller said a person called the school and said, "There's a bomb in the school, click."
He said students were allowed to move from class to class within the school building while the lockdown was in effect.
"These things happen all the time," Waller said. "We get one every week."
He said there was no bomb found.
It is against the law to call a bomb threat into a school.
Authorities take all threats seriously. The threat in Clayton County came just a short time before a shooting took place at an Atlanta middle school. Reuters reported that a 14-year-old was injured in the shooting at Price Middle School, just south of downtown Atlanta.
