JONESBORO — A Rex man will appear in court for the first time today after he was arrested this week for allegedly raping his girlfriend in October.
Michael Angelo Sanchez, 27, is accused of sexually assaulting the 21-year-old woman, hitting her and refusing to let her leave after she refused to let him borrow her car, according to an arrest warrant.
Police said Sanchez became belligerent and threatened to kill the woman’s father and employer, then forced her to have sex with him in the parking lot of a Morrow movie theater, the warrant said.
He was arrested about noon Thursday by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office on charges of rape, aggravated assault and two counts each of false imprisonment and simple battery.
Sanchez is scheduled to appear before a Clayton County Magistrate judge at 10 a.m. Friday.
