Clayton students make SCAD Dean’s List


JONESBORO — Locals have been named to the spring 2013 quarter Dean’s List at the Savannah College of Art and Design. They include Morrow resident Khoa Nguyen, Lovejoy resident Katherine Talmadge and Jonesboro residents Olisa Agulue, Melissa Cordova and David Jayne. Full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the quarter receive recognition on the Dean’s List.

Peaks gets academic honors

Ray Anthony Peaks of Morrow was named to the honor list for the spring 2013 semester at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo. Peaks, a senior in computer engineering, carried a minimum of 12 hours and earned a GPA of 3.2 or higher to be included on the list.

Mundy’s Mill Middle in Lots2Give contest

Mundy’s Mill Middle School in Jonesboro is in the running with seven other Georgia schools to win a share of $120,000 in cash prizes from the Sixth Annual Lots2Give Video contest.

The public was invited to view the videos submitted by the participating schools at www.biglots.com/lots2give and vote for their favorite through July 7.

Schools submitted a 90-second video and a brief essay on why their school could use some additional financial support.

About 186 schools submitted videos. One $20,000 grand prize, two $10,000 first-place prizes, four $5,000 second-place prizes and 30 $2,000 third-place prizes will be awarded. Winners will be announced Aug. 10.
