Suspected burglar in coma after escape try

By Kathy Jefcoats

JONESBORO — Clayton County police said a burglary suspect is in a coma after he tried to escape from a third-floor window Sunday.

Shawn Lamar Harris, 42, is in a coma with head and neck injuries at Atlanta Medical Center, said Officer Gary Syblis.

Syblis said police responded Sunday to the 3200 block of Weatherwood Way in Rex in reference to a burglary in progress. Officers found four suspects inside the home with burglary tools and took them into custody.

Harris apparently jumped from the third floor of the house when he saw officers arrive, said police.

Arrested with Harris were James Palmer, 33, Damon Mitchell, 33, and Demarcus Eagles, 36, said Syblis.

Clayton County detectives are interviewing these suspects in reference to several additional ongoing investigations, he said.

Obviously he won't be committing any burglaries any time soon.

....If I'm correct on this, The Tax Payers will have to pay for his hospital bill.

.....If this is so, his recovery and medical cost will be in the hundred -thousand dollars. I had lower back surgery, and just for my for the hospital cost, plus the surgery cost, was well over $100,000. dollars.
