JONESBORO Clayton County commissioners and legislators will meet Wednesday to discuss transportation, tax and economic development issues facing the county.
The 2013 Legislative Leadership Summit, which is open to the public, will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the S. Truett Cathy Professional Learning Center, 1087 Battle Creek Road in Jonesboro. The agenda includes discussions of public transportation in the county, a community development district in College Park, near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and House Bill 399.
The house bill was the subject of a long fight where Clayton County legislators fought colleagues from nearby areas over the issue taxes levied by the county on concessionaires at the airport. It was passed by the state House of Representatives earlier this year, but it got stuck in the Senate when the legislative term ended. It is expected to be brought up again in the 2014 term.
