JONESBORO It won’t exactly be a meeting of King Arthur’s roundtable, but six of Clayton County’s seven mayors will gather later this week for a public discussion on issues facing their cities.
The Clayton County Democratic Party will host a “Clayton County Mayoral Roundtable” Thursday, from noon until 1:30 p.m., at El Noa Noa restaurant, 6640 Tara Blvd. in Jonesboro. It is part of the party’s new “Lunch and Learn” series and the mayors will discuss their plans for the future and the challenges facing their respective municipalities.
Although the party is hosting the meeting, municipal leaders are chosen in non-partisan elections.
Participants are expected to include College Park Mayor Jack Longino, Forest Park Mayor David Lockhart, Lake City Mayor Willie Oswalt, Lovejoy Mayor Bobby Cartwright, Morrow Mayor Joseph “J.B.” Burke and Riverdale Mayor Evelyn Winn-Dixon, according to an announcement put out by the restaurant and the party.
Jonesboro Mayor Joy Day said she was invited to participate but could not attend because of a scheduling conflict.
