JONESBORO — Four Clayton County firefighters were treated at Atlanta Medical Center for injuries sustained in a vehicle accident, said officials.

Deputy Chief Jacque Feilke said four were taken to Atlanta Medical Center Tuesday night for injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Feilke said about 10 p.m. that one firefighter had been released and two more were in the process of being released. The fourth is being kept overnight for observation but didn't suffer broken bones, she said.

Chief Jeff Hood and Assistant Chief Landry Merkison were attending a Clayton County Board of Commission meeting when they got the call about the crash and immediately left.

Commission Chairman Jeff Turner said he understood that the fire truck collided with a tractor-trailer truck but he had no details.

The accident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
