Barry F. Marler passed away peacefully June 17, 2013, at 84. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church and a devout Christian where he was always available when called on to take someone to the doctor, to the grocery store, do volunteer work and anything to assist others in need. He was a very giving person.

He was a major for the Atlanta Police Department for 28 years. He was preceded in death by Julia, his first wife, and Barry Douglas Marler, his son. His is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Curry) Marler of Jonesboro, Ga.; his son and daughter-in- law, Stan and Donna Marler of Douglasville, Ga.; grandson 1st Lt. Barry Andrew Marler, U.S. Air Force, (now deployed); his daughter-in-law, Mimi Marler of Tampa, Fla.; his sister, Bonnie Jean Cole, and nieces, Diane Parzygnat and Beverly Russell, all of Newnan, Ga. No service is planned.

His body has been accepted by Emory for medical research. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to First Baptist Church of Jonesboro or The Alzheimer Association. Our loss is heaven's gain and to God we give the glory.
