Sponsors still needed for Arts Clayton golf tourney

— Clayton County children will be able to learn about the arts in part because of 30 golf teams signed up for the 10th Annual Allan Vigil Golf Classic Invitational, but those lessons could be boosted.

Arts Clayton still needs more area businesses, groups and individuals to sign up as sponsors for the tournament, which will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., at the Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge.

“The team slots are sold out but sponsorships are still available,” said Arts Clayton Executive Director Linda Summerlin.

The tournament is important to Arts Clayton because it is one of the group’s main fundraisers for arts education. The group’s education programs include its recently-completed Kaleidoscope and Young Teen summer camps as well as its Art Van and Read to Succeed Learning Through The Arts school and library programs.

Summerlin said credit for selling out of team slots at the tournament belongs to dealership owner Allan Vigil and his son, Mike Vigil.

“Allan and Mike really worked hard to really maximize our number of teams so we could have a great showing for our 10th anniversary,” Summerlin said.

Sponsorships are $250 for a tee box or green; $500 for a “tee box domination”; $300 for a driving range; $500 for a Par 3 Challenge and $200 for the beverage carts. Summerlin said raffle sponsorship opportunities are also available for area businesses.

People who cannot attend the tournament, but would still like to make a donation to the arts education programs can do so as well.
