Mrs. Sybil Livingston Patterson, 85, of Greenville and formerly of Forest Park, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at her home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, June 24, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Randall Hodge will officiate and interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday.
Born July 29, 1927, in Rayville, La., Mrs. Patterson was the daughter of the late John Henry and Jessie Jagger Livingston. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Louisiana State University and retired as a physical education teacher after teaching at Fountain, Grady and Forest Park high schools. A resident of Greenville since 2002, she was a longtime resident of Forest Park, where she was a founding member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her son, Jon Leland Patterson and his wife, Kim of Oxford; daughters Patricia Lynne Mansuy and her husband, Paul of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Laura Lucille Neal and her husband, Michael of Greenville, and Beverly Gayle Gilmer and her husband, Charles of Locust Grove; grandchildren Hanna Patterson, Kara Patterson, Jennifer Potts, Stephanie Fretwell, Melodie Hicks, April Bairentine, Michael Neal Jr., Jessica Patterson, Brandon Gilmer, Crystal Smith and Jennifer Gilmer; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters Pat Johnson, Blanche McConnell, Ann Daniel, Arcola Livingston, Linda Copeland and Sue Hallack; brothers Wally Livingston, Bobby Livingston and Stanley Livingston. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leland Baggett Patterson.
