JONESBORO The sounds of jazz will return to the city of Jonesboro this spring.
Mayor Pro Tem Pat Sebo said the Atlanta Jazz Festival has invited the city to participate in its “31 Days of Jazz” program for the second consecutive year. The program is designed to serve as a build up to the Memorial Day weekend festival by having small jazz concerts in communities around metro Atlanta throughout the month of May.
Jonesboro’s concert will be held Friday, May 31 at Lee Street Park, Sebo said.
Jonesboro held a concert with several Jazz groups from Clayton County last year on the football field at Lee Street Park. Approximately 350 people attended the first concert – which was called “Jazz Under The Stars” – and several restaurants in the county offered dinners for attendees.
Clayton News Daily was an organizing sponsor of last year’s concert.
