MORROW A Morrow mother allegedly fought with her grandmother and abandoned her 4-year old daughter on the side of an interstate, authorities said Saturday.
The troubles for Jane Anderson, 31, began when Clayton County police responded to a call about an alleged altercation between Anderson and her grandmother at 4:12 a.m. in the 300 block of Morrow Road.
Anderson reportedly left the scene before police arrived, but officers said they “found evidence of physical abuse between the grandmother” and her granddaughter, according to a statement from Clayton County police.
The grandmother was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation. After a search for Anderson, police found her nearby at 7:56 a.m. and she was arrested.
That is when Anderson allegedly let it slip that she “left her child on I-75 near the wood line,” according to the police statement.
Police searched for the child using their K-9 and air support units and Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services personnel aided in the search. The child was found near Pasadena Court and Hollywood Drive in Forest Park “with no severe injuries.” Those streets are near the Old Dixie Highway exit on I-75.
Anderson has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, cruelty to children in the first degree and reckless conduct.
