PREP ROUNDUP: Woodland's Smith strikes out 12 in win

Woodland 12, Upson-Lee 0: A strong pitching performance by senior Eric Smith helped the Wolfpack get a Region 4-AAAA victory in five innings at home.

Smith struck out 12 for Woodland, which improved to 9-5 overall and 7-4 in the region.

T.J. Riles went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Mickell Dennis was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, Mark Bussey went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Malcolm Nicholas had an RBI-triple, Josh Evans had two hits and Jacob Lee had a hit and two RBIs.

Dutchtown 15, North Clayton 0:The Bulldogs cruised to a Region 4-AAAA victory on the road.

Michael Warren went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Bulldogs, which improved to 10-4 overall and 9-2 in the region.

Dutchtown also got big nights from Jeremy Arrington (2-for-4, double, two RBIs) and Sam Kim (2-for-4, double, three RBIs). Danny Vargas had a hit and three RBIs, Adrian McLendon had two hits and Alex Johnson and Jesse Christensen each had a hit.

Manuel Corrales pitched three shutout innings to earn the win.

Locust Grove 5, Jonesboro 3:The Wildcats held on for a crucial Region 4-AAAA victory at home.

Locust Grove improved to 7-6 overall and 7-4 in the region.
