JONESBORO Maybe Mother Nature isn’t ready to show the love for animals this weekend.
With forecasts of a 60-70 percent chance for rain Saturday, Clayton County Humane Society officials have decided to postpone their spring yard sale fundraiser until May 11from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Jonesboro High School, 7728 Mt. Zion Blvd. The Humane Society’s biannual yard sales are held to raise funds for operations at the group’s shelter in Jonesboro.
Officials had hoped for the best weather-wise earlier this week when the forecast included only a 20 percent chance of rain, but they kept a May 11 rain date in their pocket as a precaution.
As the forecast took a dive throughout the week, taking advantage of that precaution became more and more of a necessity until it became clear that Mother Nature would probably not cooperate for the animals’ sake.
