Forest Park City Council fires attorney firm

FOREST PARK — Forest Park City Council fired its attorney firm without an explanation during a regular meeting Monday night.

Council members had re-appointed the Mack and Harris Law Firm for another year in January. Partners Robert Mack and Joe Harris were asked to leave the meeting after the 3-1 vote.

The item was not on the agenda but Councilwoman Latresa Akins asked that it be added during the meeting. It was obvious from the subsequent discussion that Akins and council members Tommy Smith and Maudie McCord had previously talked about the action and were in agreement.

It was equally obvious that Mayor Pro Tem Linda Lord was stunned by the request. She cast the lone dissenting vote and declined to discuss the issue after the meeting.
