McDONOUGH — Daryl Brown has been named regional manager for Georgia Power’s Atlanta Metro South operations covering Clayton, Coweta, Henry, Butts and Fayette counties.
He is responsible for sales, customer service, operations and economic and community development for a region serving more than 255,000 customers.
Brown previously served as Meridian Division Manager at Mississippi Power, a sister subsidiary of Southern Company. He began his career at Mississippi Power in 1993. Since then he has held positions in marketing, region management and supply chain management at both Georgia Power and Mississippi Power, including supply chain manager, area sales manager and Assistant to the President.
“Over the past 19 years I have moved 10 times between Georgia Power and Mississippi Power,” said Brown. “I’m very excited about this new opportunity.”
Walter Dukes, metro Atlanta Region senior vice president, praised Brown’s skills and experience.
“Daryl brings extensive skills and work experience to his new role,” Dukes said. “His leadership experience and broad knowledge of company operations make him well qualified for this position.”
Brown, a graduate of the Mississippi Leadership Program, was selected for the 2009 Top 40 under 40 award and was a member of the Meridian Rotary Club. He was also president of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Board in Mississippi.
He served as vice chair of the Mississippi National Minority Supplier Diversity Council, on the Mississippi Better Business Bureau and on the Advisory Board of the Gulf Coast Chapter of American Association of Blacks in Energy.
He spent 17 years in the United States Army Reserves where he held several leadership roles including Battalion Communications Officer, Company Executive Officer, and Platoon Leader. He achieved the rank of Major before being honorably discharged in 2004.
Brown has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Mississippi State University.
