JONESBORO — A man sought by Clayton County police in April was wanted only for questioning regarding the shooting death of a Conley man, said officials.
Capt. Richard Gandee said Calvin Lloyd Murdock was wanted for questioning in the death of James Daniel Evers, 33.
"As of right now, he is not a suspect," said Gandee.
Murdock, 24, is being held in the Henry County Jail for felony probation violation and giving a false name to an officer, said Henry sheriff's Maj. Jeff Norman.
Murdock has not been charged in the shooting death of Evers, said Clayton County police Officer Danielle Rosa, but he was wanted for questioning. Rosa said Evers was found shot and killed at his home at 1784 Rock Cut Road.
Murdock has been arrested in Henry County multiple times in the past several years for a variety of charges including interference with government property, shoplifting and theft, according to Superior Court records. He has a February 2013 conviction in Clayton County for shoplifting.
