Council to hear comments on budget Monday

By Kathy Jefcoats

FOREST PARK — Residents are invited Monday night to comment on the proposed 2013-2014 budget.

The City Council has until June 30 to adopt the budget, said City Manager John Parker. However, if all goes well Monday, council members could approve the new budget that night.

Council members have already met with department heads to go over their figures and not many changes were made.

The $22 million budget has been accessible through the city's online website for several weeks and Monday night is the public's last chance for input on the proposals.

Parker said all department heads were encouraged to reduce costs by 3 percent.

Also on Monday's agenda is a presentation to police Chief Dwayne Hobbs by Louis Dekmar, chairman and president of the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

The work session starts at 6 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m.
