JONESBORO The Jonesboro City Council may ban smoking in some parts of town.
Council members will discuss whether smoking should be prohibited on city property when they meet Monday at 6 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Department headquarters, 170 South Main St. If approved later this month, “Smoke Free Zone” signs would be posted on those properties.
The ban is one of several issues the council will take up at its work session meeting.
Other items include the addition of police officers and updates on the city’s upcoming summer concert series, improvements to Carriage Lane and possible improvements at Lee Street Park.
Since it is a work session, no votes are expected to be taken at the meeting. There will be a public comment period at the end of each discussion item so citizens will be able to participate in the council’s deliberations.
