J.B. Sowell and Yvonne Kelly were re-elected to Lake City council seats

LAKE CITY — There were no surprises in the Lake City council race with incumbent councilmen J.B. Sowell and Yvonne Kelly cruising to re-election.

Sowell received 114 votes, followed by Kelly with 110 votes, said poll manager Billy Williams. He also said political newcomer Bobbie Hamilton received 44 votes.

That means 268 of the city’s 1,230 registered voters cast ballots in the election. That is a voter turnout of 21.7 percent.

In Riverdale, even though turnout for the 9,200-voter city was expected to be low for the council election, results were not available in time for this article.

Riverdale’s Ward 3 incumbent councilwoman Wanda Wallace was challenged by Claude D. Tate.

Officials said the results of the election would be posted on the front door of the City Hall Annex and on the city’s website at www.riverdalega.gov.
