JONESBORO — Clayton County police have arrested two people in the shooting death of a teenager.
Officer Phone Nguyen said Tajh Daeon Hare and Contessa Viniesha Neal, both of Jonesboro, were arrested and charged Friday with murder.
The body of Travon Crump, 15, was found in the woods Tuesday about 6 p.m. near Tee and Inverness traces on an old golf cart path, Nguyen said. The wooded area is inside Country Greens Golf Course in Riverdale.
The investigation into the boy’s death led police to Hare, 17, and Neal, 21, he said.
“Confessions were obtained from both suspects as to their involvement in the murder of the victim,” Nguyen said.
Police said Hare and Neal lured Crump to the scene, which is several blocks from both suspects’ homes. Neal allegedly agreed to help get Crump to the area but was unwilling to follow through with the shooting, Nguyen said.
According to Clayton County court records, Hale was arrested Oct. 23 and charged with affray, or fighting, with two others, Leslie Sabrina Hale and Mahagani Hale. The case is pending in Clayton County State Court.
Neal was arrested earlier this year and cited with loitering but the charge was dropped in April, according to court records.
Both are charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. They are being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail pending a first appearance and bond hearing.
