MORROW — Hundreds of people hoping to get their Black Friday shopping done early began camping out at the Old Navy check-out lines in Morrow after their Thanksgiving dinner Thursday.
The line snaked around the store with customers clutching their sale items, and despite the holiday delays, were laughing and chatting with their fellow check-out line mates as they waited for more than an hour.
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and is widely considered the official start of the Christmas shopping season in the United States.
In recent years, retailers even began opening extremely early or the night before offering promotional sales to kick off the holiday shopping season.
Extreme shoppers have also been known to camp out in front of major retailers the night before to guarantee access to the store when it opened, however there were no reports of this kind of activity this year in Clayton County.
