FOREST PARK — Keep Forest Park Beautiful officials will sponsor a Clean Sweep Day Oct. 5 that includes a shredded document event.
The quarterly disposal and electronics recycling day is open to Forest Park residents, Director Edie Yongue said.
Residents can bring items to Forest Park Recycling Center at 327 Lamar St. from 9 a.m. to noon.
Acceptable items for disposal include desktop computers, laptops, digital cameras, cellphones, calculators, video game consoles and accessories, networking and telecommunication equipment, stereo equipment, small household appliances and satellite dishes and systems.
In addition, residents can bring sensitive documents to be shredded. Sensitive documents include any with personal information that can be used by identity thieves. They include tax, insurance and employment paperwork.
Residents with items to dispose of that someone else might get use from can sell them the same day at the city’s communitywide yard sale. Held at Starr Park, the yard sale will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.
There are 10-feet-by-10-feet spaces available for rental. The cost is $10 for residents and $20 for nonresidents. If the event is rained out, it will be held Oct. 12.
