Support exists for cancer patients

RIVERDALE — There is support in Clayton County for people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Southern Regional Medical Center lists at least four groups that meet regularly in the county. The groups are free and open to cancer patients and their families to attend so they can adjust to life with cancer.

One group is the Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Support Group, which meets the first Saturday of every month, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the hospital, 11 Upper Riverdale Road, in Riverdale.

Another group is the Complimentary Care Cancer Support Group, which meets on the first Monday of the month, at 7 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, 147 Church St., in Jonesboro.

The third group is the Breast Cancer Support Group, which meets the first Saturday of each month, at 10:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro’s Recreation Outreach Center, also known as the R.O.C.

The final group is In The Hands of The Master, which is open to patients with any form of cancer. It meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Clinical Training Center behind Southern Regional. It also meets the fourth Saturday of the month, at 10 a.m., at the same location. The group’s hotline is 770-991-8357.
