JONESBORO — Residents in one-quarter of Clayton County will be able to learn about health care plans offered under the federal Affordable Care Act today and next week.
State Reps. Demetrius Douglas (D-Stockbridge) and Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro) will hold separate forums to educate their constituents about health care changes made under the act.
Douglas’ forum is today from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Lovejoy community Center, 11622 Hastings Bridge Road in Lovejoy. Glanton will host his forum Monday at 6 p.m. in his old campaign headquarters, 106 North McDonough St. in Jonesboro.
They are the latest members of the Clayton County Legislative Delegation to hold a town hall meeting to explain the law, also known as Obamacare because it was proposed by President Barack Obama, to residents.
About a half dozen forums on the law have been held throughout the county in the last month. Open enrollment for low-cost health insurance plans offered by provisions in the law began Oct. 1, although the plans do not go into effect until next year.
