Holiday reshuffles Jonesboro meeting schedule

JONESBORO — Even the public’s business has to take a break for Labor Day.

The Jonesboro City Council traditionally holds its work sessions on the first Monday of the month, but that day was a holiday this month. As a result, they rescheduled this week’s work session for Sept. 9 because of the holiday, but that will mean double the meetings for the city’s elected leaders.

As the second Monday of the month, that is also the traditional date of the council’s monthly business meetings. Rather than delay the business meeting, the council will hold both meetings on the same day.

The work session will take place at 6 p.m., and the business meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Both meetings will take place at the Jonesboro Police Department, 170 S. Main St.
