REX — Clayton County residents will have an opportunity this week to learn about health care changes that are just a few weeks away.
State Rep. Sandra Scott (D-Rex) announced she will hold a town hall meeting Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Carl Rhodenizer Recreation Center, 3499 Rex Road in Rex. The focus of the meeting will be the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which has become more commonly known as “Obamacare.” Open enrollment for a health care exchange marketplace created by the act will begin Oct. 1 on www.health care.gov/. Coverage under those plans will begin Jan. 1.
Scott has pledged to have officials on hand at her town hall forum to explain the law and how it will affect residents.
“The Affordable Health Care will roll out on Oct 1st,” an email from Scott’s office states. “If you are not sure how it will impact your family please come out and listen to the experts.”
