Mohammed Rahman was selected from more than 15,000 entries to win a car and trip to Florida from Southern Community Newspapers Inc.
LAWRENCEVILLE — Winning a free trip is great. Winning a car to take that trip is even better.
A Duluth resident is the winner of a 2013 Mazda CX-5 SUV and a three-night getaway to Amelia Island, Fla., in Southern Community Newspapers Inc.’s largest contest to date. The company partnered with VisitFlorida to host the contest.
Mohammed Rahman was selected from 15,100 entries in the contest that ran June 1 through Aug. 31.
Rahman said his first reaction was disbelief and he’s still in a state of shock having won not only a trip but also a vehicle.
“I have never won anything to this magnitude and therefore I am having a hard time believing that I will be the owner of brand new Mazda CX-5,” Rahman said. “I think the excitement and happiness will kick in once I have the car keys and planning the dates of the trip.”
The contest was promoted in the Gwinnett Daily Post, the Clayton News Daily, the Rockdale Citizen, the Newton Citizen, the Henry Herald and the Jackson Progress-Argus.
“While we continually offer fun, interesting and rewarding contests on a regular basis, this was by far the largest contest we have ever run for our newspaper and website readers,” said Bob McCray, vice president for Southern Community Newspapers Inc. “We were also the exclusive media company to offer such a great prize in the Greater Atlanta market. The overwhelming response from the community was very gratifying.”
