RIVERDALE — Clayton County Public Schools officials are investigating an incident that involved a male student hitting his head against a “concrete block” wall.
School spokesman Charles White said the incident occurred Sept.19 at Riverdale Middle School.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” he said. “We have learned that the principal and teachers followed protocol. We are limited in the amount of information that we can disclose at this time due to the ages of the students involved. We can state that efforts have been made to ensure that all involved students received due process.”
White confirmed the male student struck his head against a restroom wall through unintended contact that “resulted from an earlier verbal exchange seemingly initiated by the student who was injured.”
He said the injured student was seen by a health care technician and his mother was contacted.
“The mother is following up as is appropriate for her,” he said.
White said the district is not releasing information regarding the unidentified, injured student.
